My item was the little black dress. EVERY woman needs a little black dress in her wardrobe. I typically make one every year but this year I didn’t want just your “basic” little black dress, I wanted one with a little more pizazz to it. Something out of the norm for me but a dress that would be a great addition to my wardrobe.

I decided to go with this asymmetrical hem dress. It’s a statement piece for sure.

I fell in love with the hem line and dart details.

I kept my shoes and accessories very minimal with the exception of my hat that I absolutely love. You will see a LOT of hats in the fall/winter months.

For those of you who sew, here is a review:

Vogue 1267

Pattern Description: Close-fitting, lined dress has decorative shoulder and side darts, lingerie straps and invisible back zipper.

Pattern Sizing: 8-16 I cut the 14 but could have gone down a size. I didn’t want to muslin this and I know the description is close fitting but I didn’t want to have that painted on look.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn’t really use them. I did look over them and they are well written.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I just loved the overall style.

Fabric Used: Ponte

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None. The neckline is a TAD bit high but instead of lowering it I weighted the inside of the facing and that gave me sort of a cowl like effect. I did omit the back zipper. My fabric has enough give that it really wasn’t needed.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I don’t think I’ll make this one again but I do recommend it.

Conclusion: Great pattern and this is a great addition to my wardrobe.

Have a great day guys!

Your dress looks much better than the photo on the pattern cover. I didn’t recognize the dress until I looked at the Vogue pattern website. Your version makes me want to pull out my pattern. I have it in my stash. Very pretty.

Adrienne, would you list the website to the other ladies.

I see you have Erica Bunker and ThatBlackChick photo up. I would like to see the other ladies who would be apart of the six bloggers, six weeks, six pieces. I’m wonder how your BFF Mimi did not get selected for this one. I know she has big things going on with her patterns, but would love to see all of you do a Spring wardrobe, where each blogger makes an item each week for 4 weeks. The six listed above plus Mimi would be great.

Love you girl, and my mother name is Adrienne, spelled the same way.

Hey Rochelle! I sure will. I’ll add it to the original post. Thanks for the idea lol I did not think about that. Adrienne’s ROCK!!!

Hi , I really like the dress on you, could explain what you meant about weighing down the neck and do you think the style would be suitable for work wear.

    • AEadmin/ 31.08.2015Reply

I just added a penny to the inside of it to keep it from popping up. The penny adds a little weight to it if that makes sense. It depends on your industry. I don’t think I would PERSONALLY wear it to work but then again it truly depends on the industry you are in.
