Soul Food, My Walk With God

Soul Food, My Walk With God

I was thinking the other day about prayer. My prayer life has totally changed.

I was reading in the bible where it says something along the lines of ask what you will in my name and I will give it. Hmmmm. I PROMISE the first thought that went through my mind was, "what do I want?" lol.

I mean all I have to do is ask for it right? LOL. All I wanted was spiritual things. A closer walk with God, a better understanding of His word, to live the life, not just talk the talk.

When Tony and I gave our lives back to God we let a LOT of people go. People that just weren't good for us. We don't do the things we did when we were hanging with them so we just put a LOT of distance between us.

Well, we knew one of them was going to have surgery and we would call before hand to see about the time and stuff, well there were complications. Major ones. They are doing ok, but have a long road to recovery.

It made me realize that we (I) have to STAY prayed up. Not just pray when things are bad. IMO its like going to the bank to get some money out because you have an emergency and there is NONE there. I want a relationship. I want to know God and I want Him to know me. Not look at me like who is this when I start talking to Him about something.

I'm not perfect, just a woman striving to live my life the Bible way and be pleasing to God.

That’s all Gods wants is for us to get closer to him.

A closer walk with God will always serve us well. And how amazing that God wants us to have a close relationship with him! I hope you are continuing to minister to the friend who has had surgery. It is on purpose that this friend knows you, and there may be something God is doing through you and your husband.

Communication is important to any good relationship. We need to spend time with God, too. 🙂

I was talking to my pastor one day about some issues I was facing. He said something that made me think. He asked was I praying about the issues and I said yes. Then he asked how much praying was I doing BEFORE the issues began. My answer was that I wasn’t praying nearly as much as I should. He said to me that if God knows that trouble will make me pray, then maybe that’s why he brought the trouble my way. REALITY CHECK! I don’t want my prayers to exist because I’m fighting my way out of a hole. I want a RELATIONSHIP that goes WITH my prayer life. Not just random prayers because I’m struggling to keep my head above water.

Well said! We should all live to know HIM as we are known. There’s no greater relationship:)

My pastor said something during a sermon one day that still makes me think about my relationship with God. He told us to think about children that do what their parents say, and don’t ask for a lot. Those parents want the best for their children and are just waiting to help them when they ask…Then pastor mentioned how much more God loves all of us and is just waiting to help all of His children. However, we have to ask! But for me, I want to have that relationship with God and go to Him constantly, not just when something goes wrong. I want to live His perfect will for my life, so I’m trying to pray more and study His word. So I’ll have something to fall back on when an emergency comes and I have to make that “withdrawal.” God’s blessings on your friend and your family!
PS. Thanks for stopping by my blog! It made my day! =D

You’re not alone!!!! I feel the same exact way.
That’s how it starts; this deep desire to simply know more and have more of Him.
God is going to take that thirst and give you more than what you’ve ever expected to quench it. It’ll have you begging for more. He’s just good like that. 🙂

    Love it.
I was convited this weekend right in my living room as I watched, Sunday Service because I was “mad with myself and God” so I didnt feel like attending servuce because of they way certain situations were going.
I have never been a true prayer warrior I was never taught the right or wrong way to pray. I would just pray when things got hard, but when thing were going good some days I didnt even say thank you.
Last October all heck beginning to break lost in my life and know I see it was because God wanted to get me closer to him. I had been fighting the fight for a while now finally realize I can’t do it alone anymore, I was thinking It’s wearing you down, robbing you of joy, peace and keeping you from the abundance.
I was litterally drained but I was hiding it behind the mask of Im too blessed to be stressed but crying on the inside.
Judges 15 9-20 It was shown that if I wait on God he will give me the power, strength and guidance to break lose.
The preacher basically said and I quote “Negros will kill you and you will kill yourself being what others want you to be.”
So just like Samson kill thousand with a jawbone. What Can I not do? God has heard the prayer and its under my feet and he is waiting for me to activate my faith. Prayer is the Key to eveything but faith opens the door.

I read it somewhere that soul food consists of a selection of foods traditional in the foo of African Americans. And another thing is it is closely related to the cuisine of the Southern United States.
