How to wear a jumpsuit for the holidays!

How to wear a jumpsuit for the holidays!

Hey y’all! Before we get started be sure to sign up for our newsletter. I’m pretty excited about all that will take place in 2015 and I don’t want you guys to miss it :).

For the next three days I’ll do a little series showing you what you can wear for the holidays. Hopefully you are inspired to try some new looks!

We are in FULL swing for the holidays and I’m ready to start making my rounds to all the holiday gatherings!  I have a few that I need to attend and I’m going to show you how you can wear a jumpsuit for the holidays.

A few months back I saw this stunning jumpsuit on Net-A-Porter:

How about a better image:

I fell in LOVE! I pinned this on my pinterest board, printed it off and put it in a notebook that I keep of items I REALLY want to make.

I have had this sewn up since OCTOBER and didn’t get a chance to wear it. I can wear it now lol

Let me tell you what I LOVE about this jumpsuit. The Emilio Pucci was my inspiration, but I didn’t want it exact. I decided to go with this drop shoulder sleeve and make my top cross-over. Best decision I’ve EVER made lol. It is so easy to get in and out of.

I love the blousy-ness ( yes I just made the word up lol) of the top. It is so comfortable.

Since this is for a holiday gathering, I decided on my favorite sparkly clutch and a sparkly statement necklace. Perfect for the season.

For those of you who sew, here is a review:

Burda 7193 (OOP)

Pattern Description: Loose-fitting coordinates with elastic waist top with sleeve variations

Pattern Sizing: 10-22 I made the 12 and could have gone down another size.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?  Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? I glanced at them and they are well written.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved this style top.

Fabric Used: ITY

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added one inch to the bottom of the shirt and did NOT add the band. I self drafted my pants, attached them and added elastic at the waist.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I doubt if I sew this one again but If you like this pattern and can find it grab it.

Conclusion:  Great pattern for the look I was going for.

I noticed the fabric you used is ITY. What does that mean?

It stands for Interlock Twist Yarn but it’s just a knit with excellent drape. One of my favorites.

Thanks!!! So if I go into Hancock just ask for Interlock Twist yarn.

You can just ask for ITY. But becareful. All ITY is not the same. Some is super thin and cheap looking/feeling. I got the bulk of mine from New York. I hardly ever see a good quality in Joanns or Hancock. Sometimes I will run across it but not all the time.
