A new twist on the shirt dress. Vogue 8876…A Review

A new twist on the shirt dress. Vogue 8876…A Review

I've actually worn this twice since I've made it and I absolutely love this shirt dress.I will upload pictures later of me wearing it casual, unbelted and with flats.

Black and white shirt dress
I fell in love with this dress literally the moment the pattern was released. I kept my accessories very simple and paired it with my favorite blue suede shoes.
For those of you who sew, here is a review…
Pattern Description: Loose-fitting dress has collar with casing, yokes (self-lined back, cut
on crosswise grain), princess seams, side pockets, back pleat, and hem
band. A and C: self-lined cap sleeves. C: stitched hem on sleeves. B and C: front zipper. Purchased drawstring for collar.

Pattern Sizing: 8-16

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!

Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy. This pattern is VERY well drafted.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Loved everything about this dress!

Fabric Used: Stretch cotton sateen that I picked up from Metro Textiles when I was in NY in April but you can grab some here from Gorgeous Fabrics . This fabric is AMAZING. When I saw it I knew exactly what I was going to make lol.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None. I will say that this dress is SHORT. I'm 5'5.5 and you see where it hits me. If you are ANY taller than me I would suggest making it longer…or not. Just personal perference.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I doubt if I make this one again. One is enough. It is VERY loose fitting. I made the 12 and I know I could have gone down to the 8. It's VERY loose fitting and I'll only wear it belted.

Conclusion: Great pattern if you like this style. I really really love it.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but when you really like something you’ve made, you stand a bit taller–your pleasure shows. This is lovely. Brava.
