Caribbean water dress (Vogue 8615…A Review)

Caribbean water dress (Vogue 8615…A Review)

When my mom saw this fabric she said it looked like Caribbean water. I'll take it.

I picked this up from Metro Textiles when I was there in April. I also have this fabric in black. I THINK Kashi had it in purple. I almost purchased it. It's FABULOUS.

Teal 1
I had a semi-formal dinner to attend with my parents for her pastor and I thought about this dress. I've LOVED this pattern since the very first time I saw it. I would pull it out every season with plans to make it and it never happend. Until I got back from New York with this fabric.
I had known about this dinner for MONTHS if not a year in advance so when I started planning what patterns I wanted to shop for while buying fabric, this one was on my list. I wore this back in July and even though it was hot, this fabric was oh so divine. Dreamy even. I absolutely LOVE it. Teal 2I decided to wear my pink shoes and go with pink accessories. My clutch is a snake skin pink/grey print. I thought it would be great for added texture.
For those of you who sew, here is a review:
Pattern Description: Lined, below mid-knee or below mid-calf dresses A, B have fitted bodice,
back neckline is lower than front and three-quarter or full length
sleeves, flared skirt has side seam pockets and back zipper. Purchased
petticoat and belt. Separate pattern pieces provided for A, B, C, D cup
sizes.

Pattern Sizing: 8-14

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!

Were the instructions easy to follow? This is another very well drafted pattern.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is another very old (2009) pattern that I have loved since it came out. I've pulled it out every year wanting to make it but didn't until this year.

Fabric Used: Honestly I don't know what kind of fabric this is. Its heavy like a thick satin but has a LOT of stretch. It has such a great drape to it. I also have it in black lol.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I really want to make this one again in a more casual fabric. Maybe next summer 🙂 I love this style and highly recommend it if this style suits you.

Conclusion:Great pattern. I couldn't take more than a few steps without getting a compliment on this dress.
