Turquoise Vintage Style Dress & Polka Dot Pumps

Turquoise Vintage Style Dress & Polka Dot Pumps

Hey guys! I hope you all had a great Easter Holiday. Let me show you how I spent mine:

Turquoise Vintage Style Dress & Polka Dot Pumps
See, what had happened was….but I feel a TON better. Just ready to get back to normal. Let’s talk about this Turquoise Vintage Style Dress & Polka Dot Pumps. That’s why you are here right? lol

Turquoise Vintage Style Dress & Polka Dot PumpsLet me tell you about this dress. This one was made during the same time that I made THIS DRESS. I didn’t have current measurements, so it was a TAD bit big but I didn’t realize it until I put it on for these pictures lol. It’s crazy that you get so used to sewing and the size that you are that you don’t take measurements often. I’m STILL loosing weight so I have to take measurements almost with every project.  I still like it though. *Insert nail painting emoji*Turquoise Vintage Style Dress & Polka Dot Pumps

I absolutely LOVE this dress. You guys know I’m all over the vintage style dresses. They are just so classic and feminine. I love it. I’m often in some of my favorite department stores and I just don’t see these types dresses. ANYWHERE. I go to regular department stores and high end stores/boutiques and they just don’t exist. I love going in stores to get inspiration. I “snoop” shop where I try on a TON of things, take pics of me in it and check out the construction of the garments. That is SO much fun to me. I love to see how things are put together in stores. ESPECIALLY the high end stores. Maybe I’ll do a blog post about that. Hmmmm.

Turquoise Vintage Style Dress & Polka Dot PumpsIn this picture you can clearly see how big it is on me. I’ve since made adjustments so it fits a TON better. I adore this fabric. I picked it up from my local Jo-Ann during a Christmas sale. It’s a textured ponte knit. Divine.

Turquoise Vintage Style Dress & Polka Dot PumpsSince this is CLEARLY a vintage style dress, I figured why not just go with a polka dot pump. It works lol. I have had these shoes for a good while and I still love them as much as I did the day I purchased them. To me, they are a classic.

For those of you who sew, here is a review:

McCall’s 7086

Pattern Description: Dresses have semi-fitted bodice and dolman sleeves, bias, tucked midriff, knot, lined skirt, French darts and back zipper. A: Gathered skirt and short sleeves. B: Three-quarter length sleeves, sleeve darts, semi-fitted skirt and back vent.

Pattern Sizing: 8-16  I cut the 12 but I truly think this pattern runs large. When I made the final adjustments, I ended up taking another two inches off of each side seam.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn’t follow them but looked them over. They are very well written.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the vintage style of this dress.

Fabric Used: Textured Ponte Knit from Jo-Ann

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I just omitted the zipper. There was no need for one with my fabric.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I doubt if I make this one again but I do recommend it if you like this style dress.

Conclusion: Great dress, it was a very straightforward sew and I enjoyed making it.
