Sunday’s Best | Butterick 6014

Hey guys!! The past few days have been I N S A N E. I’m supposed to board a plane in the next few hours and I have NOT packed. EEEEKKKKK

This is a quick review of a dress I wore to church yesterday.

adriennes essentials purpleSomeone asked me how do I pick what I want to wear…easy, by the shoes I’m feeling at the moment lol

I decided to pair this purple pleated peplum dress (try saying that three times fast) with pops of neon. I’m CLEARLY smitten with all things neon these days lol.

adriennes essentials purple3I love how versatile this dress is. It will be the perfect dress to transition over into the fall (yes I know we are smack dab in the middle of an Alabama summer lol).

adriennes essentials purple5Since my accessories are SO bright I kept them pretty simple with a thin belt, bracelets and a statement necklace.

Dress: DIY Butterick 6014

Accessories: Adrienne’s Essentials (I think there is one of these necklaces left)

Shoes: Krush (can’t find the link)

For those of you who sew, here is a pattern review:

Pattern Description: Pullover dress has close-fitting, lined, pleated bodice, pleated peplum with very narrow hem, elasticized waist, semi-fitted skirt, and narrow hem. A: self-lined sleeves.

Pattern Sizing: 6-14

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn’t read them at all.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the style of this dress.

Fabric Used: This fabric is THICK. It’s almost like a neoprene…and textured. Best of both worlds.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did NOT line this dress. I did make the sleeves longer and used the same fabric for self lining.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will sew this one again. The sizing is weird. I made my normal 12 and didn’t put this dress on until I was ready to leave for church. It’s BIG. Not too big that I didn’t want to wear it but I noticed it. If I make this again, I’m going to stitch the pleats down. I’m not sure if that was in the directions but I will def do that when I make it again.

Conclusion: Great pattern. Make a muslin first with this one to check size. I will make a muslin when I make this one again.
