Short Sleeve Side Ruched Midi Dress

Side Ruched Midi Dress

Heyyyyyyyyyy People! Its WEDNESDAY! I don’t know about you but I’m SO glad this is the halfway point. Like seriously. Mannnnnn what a week ALREADY. It has been amazing, busy, crazy and ignorant ALL AT THE SAME TIME lol. Anyway, let’s talk about this side rushed midi dress.

Short Sleeve Side Ruched Midi Dress

I LOVE this dress. I do think I say that about EACH and every item that I make lol. This one is especially nice though teehee. Y’all know I’m silly AND as I’m writing this I’m SUPER sleepy so yeah, deal with it lol. I’m only gonna be me 🙂

Short Sleeve Side Ruched Midi Dress

I’m normally don’t gravitate towards dresses with this much ruching but this one clearly drew me in. I think it is so flattering on me and I also think it will be flattering on a variety of figures.

I already have this dress in two more colors. Normally when I have a statement dress like this I will only make one. No. This one I have in black and wine. I couldn’t help it. You will be seeing those soon. It’s AMAZING how the same dress looks totally different in a different color fabric.

Pattern Description: Pullover dress with close-fitting skirt has neckline, sleeve and skirt variations. A, B: Batwing sleeves and cowl neckline. C, D: Short dolman sleeves and scoop neckline. A, D: Ruching on one side of skirt.

Pattern Sizing: 6-14
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn’t really follow the instructions but I did look at them for the review. They are very well written.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the style of this dress.
Fabric Used: ITY
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I originally cut the 14 top and waist and tapered it down to a 12 on the bottom. I ended up removing about 3 inches from the side without the ruching because it wasn’t as fitted as I wanted it. It just didn’t “hang” right without me removing the extra fabric. I did not like the way it looked on me. On the second version I made I lengthened the bodice 3 inches. This first version wasn’t “blousy” enough for me.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I already have two more of these and I’ve made another view lol.

Conclusion: This is a great pattern and I absolutely love it.
