Review: Simplicity 8655 & McCall’s 7958
Hey y’all! I TOLD y’all I was back! LOL
This past weekend I went to Mississippi to celebrate my good good friend Monica’s dad’s retirement lol. I’m OFFICIALLY family now. I was only kinfolk before but now it’s official. I had THE best time. More on that later. Let’s talk about this outfit lol.
I KNEW I was going to be in Mississippi and I also knew that it was going to be just dumb hot. I wanted to look cute AND be cool and this is what I came up with.
The top is McCall’s 7958 and I LOVE IT. I didn’t make any changes to the pattern. It comes with cup sizes so that is ALWAYS a plus. I didn’t even read the directions for this one and I should have. Had I actually read them I would have known that I needed a separating zipper lol. I used an invisible zipper because that’s what I had. Y’all should have SEEN me getting in and out of this. Hilarious is an understatement lol. I’m going to order a few separating zippers and put one in it. I also want to make another one of these tops. The back is super cute!
The pants are Simplicity 8655. I have had these in my stash probably since they came out and I’m JUST getting around to them. I modified these just a bit. I removed the darts and the tuck from the pattern. I didn’t want any other seams on these pants. They were WAY too high waisted for ME so I removed about 2.5 inches from the waist and made my own facings. They were also too long. I shortened them about 4 inches. I thought I was going to taper the leg a little more but I didn’t. I also didn’t want back pockets so I omitted them. This will be a TNT slim leg pattern for me when I just need a basic pair of pants. I LOVE the fit. I was able to cut a straight 12. I SHOULD have cut a 10. I used this AMAZING stretch crepe and the longer I had them on the less they fit lol. I knew this would happen, like I know better but it is what it is. I’ll do that next time because there WILL be a next time lol.
That’s all for now!
