Review: Butterick 6453
Heyyyyyy yoooouuuuuu guuuuyyysss! I hope you all have been enjoying the “last few days of summer”. WHY is time going by SO quickly? Like. I don’t get it. Anyway, let’s talk about Butterick 6453. I LOVE a fit and flare dress. It just compliments my figure so well. This is an older pattern. I can’t exactly remember when it came out but I don’t know how I managed to over-look it.
If you watched my latest video on YouTube, I did a fabric haul video. This fabric was part of that. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE this fabric. I was going to be attending an event and I KNEW I wanted to use this fabric. However my VERY first thought was to make a strapless gown with a slight train lol. Y’all know I’m extra. Instead I decided to go this route. I’m glad I did. While I LOVE all the extra fancy stuff I do NOT need a closet full of “gowns”.
This dress is about to be SO versatile. First of all, I LOVE this shade of blue. I’m automatically drawn to it EVERY single time I see it. During the fall/winter months I will STILL be rocking this dress with a denim jacket and booties. I can’t wait.
I didn’t read / follow the directions on this pattern, if you are a super duper beginner you can make this. I didn’t make any changes other than not adding sliders to the straps. I felt like that would cheapen the look of this dress. I did have to shorten the straps a TON. I also love that it has facings and it’s not lined. HOWEVER, this fabric is substantial enough that it doesn’t need a lining. If the pattern would not have included facings I would have either made my own or lined the bodice only.
I was able to get a couple pictures at the actual event. My dear friend Kristy started a non – profit Serve with Purpose and Passion. SPP Inc. is a non-profit organization providing technical and financial assistance to other non-profit organization throughout the city of Birmingham. I’m SO proud of her for making her dream a reality. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
And yes, my dress has pockets! LOL. That’s all I have for you guys today! Have a GREAT week!
