Perfect Fall Dress | Burda 6919
Hey guys! I’m so glad the weather is changing here! I needed a perfect fall dress and Burda 6919 fit the bill.
I love how colorful this fabric is. I picked it up from Michael Levine while I was in LA for Mimi’s Conference .
I was honestly really hesitant about it but for some reason I could NOT leave it there.
Glad I brought it home lol.
Shout out to my photographer Kayla who has gotten REALLY really good with photography. She loves it and I’m glad lol.
If you can’t tell, I ABSOLUTELY love this dress! I love the design, the fabric, the fit. EVERYTHING.
I was telling Kelly the other day almost ANYTIME you see me with a dress on, I’m wearing pantyhose. I ALMOST never leave home without them.
ESPECIALLY when I’m going to church.
My favorite brand is Hanes Silk Reflections. I often buy them 3 or 4 at a time so I’m NEVER without them. I have them on here and you can’t even tell.
The color I’m wearing is Barely There.
I love my bangles. They are my current favorites.
I love how “twisty” this one is and that it has The Lord’s Prayer engraved. I HAD to have it.
Dress: DIY Burda 6919 / Shoes: Nine West / Accessories: Old, Alex and Ani
For those of you who sew, here is a review:
Pattern Description: Must-have dresses with integrated kimono sleeves, narrow skirt added to the bodice, fitted to the waist with an elastic casing and charming fan-shaped waist folds.
Pattern Sizing: 8-18 I cut the 14
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I glanced over them for the sake of the review but didn’t use them in my construction. They are very straight forward and easy to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved that this pattern was simple. Perfect for showcasing gorgeous fabric.
Fabric Used: ITY from Michael Levine
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I took it in a half an inch on each side at the hip, added 3 inches to the length of view A and tapered it at the hem.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? YES YES YES YES AND YES. I LOVE this dress. I plan on making a solid version.
Conclusion: If you like this style dress, grab this pattern. I needed something that wouldn’t require much thinking and this certainly fit the bill.

You’re welcome! I love how it’s fitted but not showing everything.
AEadmin/ 21.10.2014
Yeah thats totally not my style lol
Janelle/ 21.10.2014
And I’m grateful for that! 😀 I stopped following a couple of blogs because the dresses were all like bodycon. I just wasn’t sure how to make them less tight in certain areas.
AEadmin/ 21.10.2014
It’s all in the measurements. Some people love that negative ease. I do as well just not THAT much lol
Janelle/ 21.10.2014
What’s negative ease? Personally I prefer a little more “wiggle room”
AEadmin/ 21.10.2014
Another way of saying TIGHT lol. Yeah I like for my clothes to just lay on my curves lol not squeeze them to death lol. Just a personal thing.
Janelle/ 21.10.2014
LOL! I almost spit out my water. You’re funny!!
