Pattern Drafting and Draping Classes
This past week I was able to attend pattern drafting and draping classes at
School of Art Fashion . Let me tell y’all it was a BEAUTIFUL weekend.
I’ve been planning this since April. My mom actually told me about it and as soon as they opened up registration I signed up.
One thing I was really excited about was getting a new dress form. I’ve wanted a PGM Pro for a while and this was the perfect opportunity to go ahead and purchase one.
This class is REALLY geared towards the absolute beginner. I’ve had NO draping or pattern making experience so I truly learned a lot.
This was my FIRST draped design lol. Yep just a basic shirt lol.
I learned SO much on the first day I was exhausted by the time I left and I know my brain couldn’t take anymore information.
I loved playing around during “free drape time”. That was so much fun!
The possibilities are truly limitless!
I think my favorite thing is draping on the bias. I loved that.
I learned so much about fit and measurements. I’ve been sewing for a long time and I learned a few tips and tricks that will be great for my personal sewing as well as sewing for my Adrienne’s Essentials Clients.
I had to take a picture with Martha Pullen for my mom. She loves her lol.
We ALL payed attention lol. Another favorite thing I learned was drafting sleeves. I LOVED it.
The class instructor Joi Mahon. She was a really really good teacher. I love her style of teaching.
We used Babylock machines during our class and of course now I want one lol
I took one of my machines with me to get some hotel sewing done lol. Yeah I’m addicted lol
It was a GREAT trip. I learned a lot and met a lot of people. If you ever have the chance to go, go. Remember this particular class is geared toward the absolute beginner like myself. I had NO previous experience with draping or pattern making.
Although I learned a lot, I won’t say I’ll be draping all my items from now on and I’ll never buy patterns again. Nope. That won’t happen, but I am looking forward to using my new skills 🙂
