Mixing Prints | Floral & Stripe
Happy Monday guys! I hope you all had a great weekend!
Y’all know I’ve been in love with mixing prints lately so today I wanted to show you how I mixed florals & stripes.
If you missed the blog post 3 Tips for Mixing Prints you can click it to read.
I’ve had both of these fabrics in my stash since last year. While looking for something else I saw these two sitting together and it clicked that they would work together.
I kept my shoes and accessories VERY simple. I was trying to figure out what shoes to wear and my friend Val said, just wear nude. Well DUH lol.
This was my favorite picture. My daughter Kayla has a REALLY good eye and she get’s better and better with photography. I have to thank her for being my photographer 🙂
For those of you who sew, here is a review:
I will review the top but the skirt is from Butterick 5987. I literally just used the bottom portion of the dress, but you will see a dress made from this pattern VERY soon :).
Pattern Description: Loose fitting short sleeve top.
Pattern Sizing: 12-20 I cut the 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn’t have to use them but they are well written.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the simplicity of the top.
Fabric Used: Cotton Sateen
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? This is about to become a basic lol. I HIGHLY recommend it.
Conclusion: Great blouse. It’s a perfect wardrobe builder.
Be Inspired. Live Inspired. Be an Essential Woman.

I really love the floral with the stripes. Bravo! I think the success in this print matching is the wide stripes. It definitely makes the whole outfit stand out. BRAVO!

This is such a pretty outfit you put together. I am a little fearful of mixing prints but this outfit I would definitely wear. It’s simple and not too over the top.

Thank you! I was afraid too so just try it 🙂

Thanks Melanie!!

This outfit looks fantastic! Is the top tucked in? Or did you sew it to the skirt so it’s a dress? I’d like to make the top but I’m worried about the fit – maybe I’d need a full bust adjustment …
AEadmin/ 14.04.2015
Thank you Winny! The shirt is actually tucked into the skirt.

You out did yourself again! I love the stripes and floral prints together. I thought this was a dress at first until I realized that you have both a top and skirt pattern review. What a wonderful look for a Spring lunch with the girls!
