Marsala Draped Coat

Marsala Draped Coat

Marsala Draped Coat

I look forward to Pantone announcing the color of the year EVERY year. I’m always aware of the trends, but I’m not defined by them. I was excited to see that Marsala was the color of the year because it’s just burgundy/maroon and that is one of my favorite colors.

Now on to my marsala draped coat. Don’t you just love the way that sounds!?

I fell in love with this style coat when Brooklyn Blonde wore it.

I absolutely love this. It is simply perfect for layering. I don’t layer a WHOLE lot because I just feel like I have on too many clothes and most times it’s just not cold enough for it, but THIS is perfect.

Marsala Draped CoatIf you haven’t noticed I really love simplicity. Skinny jeans, mock turtleneck and animal print pumps completed this look.

I get so many compliments on my lip color. I’m TOTALLY addicted to deep red/purples. It’s CRAZY. This color is Magic City by Pnk Digger These colors LAST. I have several colors and adore them.

Those of you who sew, here is a review:

Pattern Description:  Draped Coat Sewing Pattern

Pattern Sizing: XS-XL

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? They were very straight forward.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the style. This was my first time working with a PDF pattern and I don’t know why I’ve avoided this for so long. I sent the pages to be printed instead of printing them at home and it was not bad at all. It took me about 20 minutes to put it together.

Fabric Used: This is my wearable muslin. Since it was my first time working with this company AND my first time using a PDF pattern so I went with a ponte knit that I had in my stash.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn’t make ANY adjustments for this one but I’ve already made a few adjustments for the next one so it will look more like the one that I was inspired by. I  plan on making one in wool.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I do plan on making another one. I recommend it if you like this style.

Conclusion: Pretty good experience working with my first PDF pattern.

I love this coat. As a person who doesn’t like to wear coats this one is perfect.

I love the way your shoes and your coat play together. I think Marsala is a nice change from the bold colors of the past five years (not that I haven’t enjoyed honeysuckle, tangerine tango, emerald, and radiant orchid).
