Little Black Dress (Simplicity 1586)

Little Black Dress (Simplicity 1586)

Hey ya'll!!!
Let's talk lol
I dont' know why saying that makes me laugh out loud (literally) but it does lol
I knew what I wanted to make with this fabric so it was so easy to put it with a pattern.

You can't go wrong with a little black dress, red pumps and pearls. Classic.
I saw these shoes while I was at Zara in New York and I FELL IN LOVE. I also had a two year old temper tantrum when they didn't have my size lol. I ordered them the SECOND I got back home lol. When they arrived I walked around in them all day. I couldn't wait to wear them out.

I wanted to add a flounce to my dress. Flounce ANYTHING is so on trend for this fall so I knew it would be perfect.
Accessories
I kept the look clean with a few of my favorite gold bracelets, my black bag and my pearl necklace.
Classic.
For those of you who sew here is a review:
Pattern Description: Misses' & Plus size dress with sleeve and neckline variations.
Individual patterns for slim, average & curvy fit & B, C, D cup
size for miss & C, D, DD cup sizes for plus.

Pattern Sizing: 10-18 I cut the 10 average

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Were the instructions easy to follow? I looked over the instructions and they were pretty straight forward.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the lines on this dress.

Fabric Used: Ponte knit from Fabric Mart

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: On this dress I redrafted the sleeve and armysce. The sleeve on view A is pretty boxy and I wanted a slim sleeve so I redrafted it. I DID leave the pleats on the shoulder which I absolutely love.

I cut around six inches off of the bottom of the dress and made a slightly gathered flounce that was about five inches long and just a little longer than the width of the bottom of the dress. I didn't want TOO many gathers just enough to show the flounce.
Since I used a double knit instead of a woven I went down two sizes. Now I've done this before so I know how to choose my size based on the fabric that I'm using. If I had used a woven I would have cut my normal size.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I do plan on sewing this dress again very soon. I love it and highly recommend it.

Conclusion: Great pattern, well drafted and a great wardrobe builder.
