In Love with Colbalt | Vintage Vogue 1584
Hey Y’all!
Did you guys have a good weekend? Mine was a little on the rough side but it got better 🙂
More and more I find myself in love with vintage styles. In today’s society s.e.-x sells. Most of what you see in the stores (not all of them but most) is too tight ,too short and overly revealing. That is one reason I love that I am able to make my own clothing and clothing for my daughters (Not to mention custom clothing for my clients) You don’t have to be half naked to look pretty. I know that the majority may not agree with me but I don’t care. It’s my opinion 🙂
Many of you already know that I love a nice wrap dress.
What I love most about this one is that is wraps from the back.
Even though it wraps from the back it provides full coverage. I could walk and if a breeze just so happened to catch me, there is enough coverage that I wouldn’t be exposed. I also wear a slip. Kinda unheard of but ladies wear a slip.
I wore pops of yellow & white and it really complimented the dress.
The underarm is very low on this dress so I wore a yellow tank under it.
The shoes. I love them so. When I opened my package I was a little upset because I was SUPPOSED to have another color. They are sold out everywhere so I just kept them. I still like them, but if I EVER see what I was SUPPOSED to get they are mine lol.
Dress: DIY Vogue 1584
Accessories: Adrienne’s Essentials
Shoes: London Trash – Phoenix
For those of you who sew, here is a review:
Pattern Sizing: Size 14
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow?I wanted to show a picture of the guide sheet. IMO it’s more detailed than the guide sheets we have today. The instructions were great.
Fabric Used: Textured knit from Metro Textiles in NY
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None but if I make this again I will raise the armsye. It’s WAY low.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I MIGHT make the long version of this. I recommend this if you can find it and are willing to pay for it. I did a search and only found one in Austrailia and it was over the $100 mark.
Conclusion:I absolutely love this style dress and it’s a great addition to my wardrobe.

Love everything about this outfit – the back wrap, the shoes and the purse! I ADORE vintage. It knocks that “sex sells” idea right on its backside! Team A!

Simply divine. I have to locate this pattern. Actually for your readers: I found 2 of them on Etsy (which by the way, is an excellent source for vintage patterns. ) They were a size 8 unfortunately (other wise they were as good as bought!) and like you I need the 14. So the search continues. I would have never looked at this pattern – it does nothing for the model. Curves work wonders in a wrap dress and you are working it! Classy…

Thank you Corynne!
I LOVE Etsy and I have purchased a lot of my vintage patterns from them. I seem to have a “slight” obsession with them right now lol
