I Hate Fabric.com

I Hate Fabric.com

Hey guys!!

I buy fabric from a TON of different places. Literally everywhere.

I shop at my local Hancock and Joanns and can find some gems in there.

I LOVE to order fabric online. The selection is better than what I have locally and who doesn’t enjoy having a box of fabric delivered to your front door.

I have been ordering from fabric.com since maybe 2007 or 2008.

Their service was great for a while. Never had any problems. What I loved most is that they ship free when you spend $35 or more.

The last FOUR orders I’ve placed with them have been just horrible.

They have fabric listed on the website. I’ll order it and two days later I get an email saying I’m getting a refund. What?! Now I KNOW mistakes happen and maybe information is entered into the computer wrong, but FOUR TIMES?!

I may have been ordering fabric for a client or even for myself doesn’t really matter. What upsets me is the website said there was a certain yardage in stock and when I placed my order I wanted that fabric delivered.

I’m salty about this because it keeps happening and that’s sooooooooooooooooooooo messed up.

Maybe you’ve had a great experience with fabric.com. Maybe you’ve gotten everything you’ve ever ordered. That just isn’t the case with me. I even called to make sure what they had on the website was what was in the warehouse and I was assured repeatedly that it was in the warehouse and it would ship soon.

Not so.

Needless to say I won’t be supporting Fabric.com any longer. I know I’m “just” one person but that’s my honest opinion of their service.

Whatever you do, do it with your might!

Adrienne

Nope – I’m with you – not buying from there anymore. What you get is just too iffy. It never looks like the picture or the description is off or something. So I understand your frustration.

See!!so glad you understand. I don’t trust them.

I too have had problems with them. They messed up on an order of mine and I waited for a week before calling them, and that was when they decided “oops” you should have gotten your refund by now- no kidding.
I faithfully order from fabricmartfabrics.com and have only had one time that they were out of stock of what I ordered.
They have the greatest enabling sales and the fabric pics and choices are phenomenal.
    You should check them out.
The only downside is the $8.00 shipping- but that is for no matter how many yards you order. sometimes they have a no shipping offer.
The have daily fabric specials also.
Maybe I should work for them :)- naw I would definitely be broke.

OH MY GOD!!!! I was reading your post and I was like….Wait! I just purchased some things from there on JULY 1ST!!! I checked my order and behold…it read CANCELLED!!!! Like what the heck?!?!?! I’m so glad you wrote this post. I definitely need to share this because it just happened to me. I was looking forward to making swimsuits. I’m pissed! When I was in NY, I skipped all of the spandex stores because I knew I was going to have fabric waiting for me. Damn Im mad!! Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m definitely NOT supporting them either!!! And I will be sharing the link to this post as well. SMDH!

      See. Man. No words.

I have only order from Fabric.com once because I cannot stand their website. They have swatches posted for a category that catch my attention and once I click on it that fabric is no where to be found. I just find their site to be frustrating enough to not want to bother.

Fabric Mart Fabrics, however, is a completely different story! I cannot say enough good things about them. I have only ever had 2 issues with them and they immediately fixed it above and beyond what I wanted. Once it would not accept a discount code and they immediately refunded me once I emailed them. Second time, they sent a 6 yard mystery bundle instead of the 10 yard. They apologized and told me to keep the 6 yard bundle and sent me an additional 10 yards. All I asked for was the 4 yard difference.

My experiences are the same. The fabric I chose was not essential so it didn’t bother me. But it has happened more than once. Also, just like ordering anything online, I’ve been disappointed with what I’ve received. But they aren’t the only one. It’s hard to tell from a picture what you’re getting. They send samples but by the time you get it, the fabric could be sold out. Onlinw shopping has its quirks.

Adrienne I thought I was the only one, LOL! I have not ordered from them in a minute. It got so bad after a while that every order was messed up or cut short, or wrong fabric. 99.9% of the time my fabric was cut short 🙁 However; they are NO LONGER holding Number UNO on my list!

Adrienne enjoy being CREATIVE!!! FIESTA 🙂

I broke up with Fabric.com a long time ago…when Amazon bought them out they went downhill in a hurry!

  • Carol/ 19.07.2014Reply

I broke up with them about 3 years ago! I’m so sorry you were still working with them. I had a huge project for a social group (22 folks) and I ordered black from them. They sent me blue twice!!! WT!? Luckily I live here in the Chicago Area and the Vogue fabrics warehouse had what I needed and the quantity I needed. I’ll never cheat on Vogue again! Because of them and that mis order mess, I finished my project the day before they needed it.

I agree with yours and many of the commentors sentiments. My biggest problem with fabric.com has been the change in the website. It is much harder to navigate the site since the change. I end up just leaving and going to another site. It is been awhile since I have ordered anything from them.

Adrienne you are not the only one. It has happened to me either. How about they put the correct amount on the website?

  • Holly/ 20.07.2014Reply

Same here, last 2 orders cancelled, the fabrics I have gotten have been seriously disappointing, not going to order from them again.

  • mlwestbury/ 21.07.2014Reply

Yeah Im a new sewer and was expecting fabric for a class I was taking and yep same thing, a week later it was unavailable but available when I purchased it. That was it for me. One time is enought! There are to many other options out there to deal with this.

  • Edna/ 22.07.2014Reply

I haven’t had a problem with fabric.com but lowpricefabric.com…omg! I know they’re in LA but whew…it takes so long for me to get anything from them. I ONLY buy from them if I can’t find the fabric I’m looking for anywhere else. I feel your pain, nothing is worse than not getting the service you deserve.

This is sad news for me. I’ve never had a problem with Fabric.com but I haven’t ordered anything since February. It’s unfortunate because they have so many good deals. Perhaps it’s new management or too much growth for a small company. Whatever it is, I hope that they get the problem resolved. I’m forced to do most of my fabric shopping online and would like to have as many affordable options as possible.

    • AEadmin/ 24.07.2014Reply

I don’t know what has happened but I wish it would go back to the way it used to be.

  • charlene/ 24.07.2014Reply

This happened to me when I was trying to order fabric for a valentines day dress. They waited so late to tell me the fabric was not available that it was too late for me to order anywhere else. The rep told me that the website is not accurate at all and that behind the sceens they are really a very small mom and pop type store with little up to date technology. So I only order from them to fill my stash. Never for a specific project. I go with more reliable companys for that. I feel your pain.

    • AEadmin/ 24.07.2014Reply

      So sad.
