Houndstooth, Gold & Animal Print

Hey Guys!

Houndstooth, Gold & Animal Print

I love houndstooth, gold & animal print so why not combine them all lol.

I am falling in love with mixing prints.  Although very subtle here, I absolutely love it.

This dress is meant for a woven fabric so I had to make a few changes to the pattern, but I’ll talk about that below.

This is one of my favorite dress patterns. I made it before HERE.

I kept my accessories and shoes very simple. It isn’t often that I go without a necklace but in my opinion, it was best for this look.

Dress: DIY Butterick 5947 / Jacket: Old Forever 21 / Shoes: Old Boutique9

For those of you who sew, here is a review:

Butterick 5947

Pattern Description: Dress has fitted, lined bodice variations with back princess seams, semi-fitted skirt, back zipper and self belt. A: front tucks. B: side front button bodice. C: back slit. B and C: front princess seams.Pattern Sizing:  I made the 10Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I hardly followed the instructions. I did glance over them and they were very straight forward. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the simple style of this dress.Fabric Used: Ponte Knit

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:  I didn’t make any drastic changes. Since this pattern is meant for a woven fabric, the first thing I did was go down a size. I basted it to try the fit and it still didn’t fit the way that I wanted so I ended up taking in two inches on each side and tapering it at the knee.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? This dress will become a TNT for me when I need a simple dress to showcase some amazing fabric. Conclusion:

Great pattern, very simple to put together a great basic dress for your wardrobe.
