Denim Dress
Hey guys!! Hope you week is going well!
I seem to always be attending some type of event and a couple weeks ago I attended one at The Club. I LOVE this place. They have THE BEST ORANGE ROLLS ON EARTH. lol
I often know of these events WAY ahead of time and since I make around 80% of all my clothing I started to plan.
I saw this dress from the Paule Ka Pre-Fall collection and FELL.IN.LOVE.
Let me pause here and tell you a little bit about myself. If you didn’t know I absolutely LOVE fashion. I LOVE high end fashion. I LOVE watching all the runway shows. What I love more is taking something from the runway and making it fit into my lifestyle. You will see some of that VERY soon 🙂
Mine is a tad bit different. When I see something that I’m inspired by I love to make it my own. I don’t necessarily want to be an exact copy. When I was looking at my fabric stash waiting on something to speak to me (what your fabric doesn’t talk to you? ) I saw this AMAZING stretch denim that almost forgot I had. I received so many complements on this dress and there was even more amazement when people got up close to me and saw that it was denim.
What I love most about this dress is the collar, the fit and the unexpected fabric I decided to go with. I did love the original dress clearly but I wanted mine to be a tad more tailored to my body. NOT skin tight, I don’t do the whole painted on look, but I wanted it to lay against the few curves that I have lol
I added pleats to the inside of the neck band so it would give me that “bunched up” look. When I wear it off my shoulders it looks like a totally different dress. It’s going to be a great date night dress with my boo thang 🙂
I had the hardest time deciding on shoes. I have SO many that I absolutely love but after sending a gazillion pictures to my sister in law “we” decided red was the best lol.
You guys know I have to sparkle DAILY so I went with one of my favorite statement necklaces.
I love this shot of me before the event started.
For those of you who sew, I did not use a pattern. I have a sloper and I used that to make it. I WILL make another version of this sometime in the future and I’ll make the collar a TAD bit longer.
Be Inspired. Live Inspired. Be an Essential Woman.

BRAVO! A great example of the value of a sloper. (Meaning, I really need to work on a sloper for myself!) Impeccable as usual.

LOL thanks Nisha! They really are the bomb.

Stunning dress Adrienne… you look so happy… glad your business is going so well. In answer to your question; “of course fabric speaks”… you just need creative ears to hear it… LOL!!

I absolutely love unexpected pairings so the combination of denim fabric with a formal fitted dress is a winner for me. Fabulous look!
