Animal Print & Plaid

Animal Print & Plaid

Animal Print & Plaid

Hey guys!

Animal Print & Plaid

I am SO in love with this combo. The animal print actually acts as a neutral. I have heard the great debate that it’s not but OH WELL. I love it.

Animal Print & Plaid

I had a gorgeous plaid fabric that I picked up at my local Hancock Fabric. I was SHOCKED to see such a gorgeous plaid. I hardly EVER buy fabric local anymore, but they had a couple pieces that I wanted. I was happy about that.

I am completely in love with these cocoon type tops/tunics. They are super comfortable and very cute. I couldn’t go 12 steps without someone complementing me on it and asking where I got it. I LOVE that I could say I made it and also handed out business cards lol.

Animal Print & Plaid

I knew I was going to be out ALL day long so I made sure to wear my favorite cute animal print sneakers. It was perfect for daytime.

Animal Print & Plaid

I did change into my pumps when it was time for dinner.

Animal Print & Plaid

Don’t you just LOVE my pink fitbit lol.

Top: DIY McCall’s 6929 / Jeans: Target / Purse: Charming Charlie / Shoes: Old J Renee

MORE animal print lol. Y’all know how I can be when I get stuck on a handbag lol.

I did wear an ivory coat  but took it off for the pictures. I FROZE for y’all lol.

For those of you who sew, here is a review:

McCall’s 6929

Pattern Description:  Very loose-fitting, pullover tops and tunics (cut on crosswise grain) sleeve openings and narrow hem. Note: sleeve openings are slightly to the back. B: buttonholes for self belt. A and B: draped front, and raised, gathered back neckline. C and D: shaped front hemline, wrong side shows.

Pattern Sizing: XS-2X

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are fine, the pattern piece however is kinda wonky lol. My face was ALL balled up then it clicked. The buttonholes provide great reference points.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the style.

Fabric Used: Wool Blend

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? YES I Plan on making another one in a sweater knit. I made the size small and you can see how roomy it is, HOWEVER, the bottom that sits on your hip is SMALL. Take your hip size into consideration when making this. I don’t think I would have had a problem if I would have used a knit but because this was a woven with NO stretch it literally sits on my waist.

Conclusion: Great pattern to have if you like this style.

There’s a debate about plaid and animal print? And I missed it? 🙂 It looks really cute to me. Your top is a really creative use of the tartan, which I usually see in a boxy form.

I am so making this right now….. Well as soon as determin what size to cut. Normally a 2xl gal. I don’t know about this one, might can get away with the large . Time to pin and tape to myself thanks for the inspiration

I don’t know how I missed this comment. Hopefully it came out great! It’s very roomy. If you use a woven just take your hip measurement into account. I hate that it didn’t have finished measurements on it.
