Animal Print & Denim | Butterick 5947

Hey guys! I hope you all are having a great week so far. It’s been pretty busy around these parts but you already know how that goes.

I couldn’t wait to show you guys my animal print and denim look. Two of my favorite things. Seriously.

I’ve said it so many times but inspiration is EVERYWHERE. One of my favorite places to find inspiration (other than Pinterest ) is Net-A-Porter. While MOST items on Net-A-Porter are WAY out of my price range, I absolutely LOVE looking at designer fashion. I love the details.

While on the site I saw this fabulous animal print dress:

Altuzarra Leopard Print Dress Well HELLO LOVER!

This is SUCH a classic piece, but at $1,395 I KNEW I was making my own version.

Even though it is literally 1,000 degrees I can not WAIT to wear this in the fall.

Since I was wearing this to church (many of you know I don’t like wearing my arms uncovered at church) I paired it with an ivory blazer.

I  kept my accessories pretty simple. I always have to have some sparkly on and decided on these denim pumps that I LURVE!

For those of you who sew, here is a review:

Butterick 5947

Pattern Description: Dress has fitted, lined bodice variations with back princess seams, semi-fitted skirt, back zipper and self belt. A: front tucks. B: side front button bodice. C: back slit. B and C: front princess seams.

Pattern Sizing: I made the 12

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I hardly followed the instructions. I did glance over them and they were very straight forward.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the simple style of this dress.

Fabric Used: Neoprene

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I went down a size and still had to take it in 1.5 inches in the CB. I didn’t add a zipper.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? This dress is a TNT. I’ve made this dress FOUR times now. I love it when I need to showcase some amazing fabric.
Conclusion: This is an excellent pattern. I love it. I need to purchase it again because all the great ones end up OOP.

Have a great day!
