50 Shades of Grey
50 Shades of Grey. Nah not the book or the movie lol. Haven’t seen/read it but I couldn’t resist using the title lol.
I have been smitten with grey for a while now and I literally have a STACK of fabric that I want to sew up so I picked two of those for this look.
It was SO cold and the wind would NOT let me be great. Y’all already know for SOME reason it’s never windy until I take pictures lol.
Literally waiting on the wind to stop blowing lol.
For those of you who sew here is a review:
Pattern Description: Solid color fabrics which do not detract from the elaborate finished seam lines, assuring the perfect fit. Two distinctive dresses, with a unique charm of their own, that you will love to wear
Pattern Sizing: 10-20 I made the size 14
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are actually superb UNTIL you get to the front flap. Maybe it was just me. I literally had to walk away from it, talk through it with my husband and THEN it made sense. I believe I was totally overthinking it because I did EXACTLY what it said and it was perfect lol.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I fell in LOVE with the design lines. They are simply gorgeous.
Fabric Used: Poly blend suiting
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I ran out of fabric for the lining and it was too late to go and get some so I omitted the lining around the neckline and armhole.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I MIGHT make this again in black. It’s perfect for a LBD.
Conclusion: This is an amazing pattern and I’m so glad I picked it up. If you like this style, pick it up.
Pattern Description: Jackets A, B, C in three lengths, are lined to edge and have casing with buttonhole openings, self-tie and sleeves in two lengths. A: sleeves are three-quarter length. B, C: sleeves have elastic casing. C: contrast tie.
Pattern Sizing:8-16 I cut the 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? For the most part yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Instructions are very well written.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the design.
Fabric Used: Wool blend for the jacket and silk for the lining.
I made a silk dress with this fabric a few years ago and had enough left over for the lining. I absolutely love it.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I really didn’t care for the gathered/casing waist so I didn’t add it.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I MIGHT make this one again, it’s a great basic piece for your wardrobe. I will say the instructions don’t tell you to interface the collar. I would definitely interface the collar so it will stand.
Conclusion: Excellent Pattern! I think it’s a wonderful “first jacket” pattern. Pick it up if you can find it.

This is so great! I’ve been debating over this dress pattern for some gorgeous cotton my daughter brought me from Tanzania. Your pictures have convinced me that it’s the one! I love the fit and your figure is similar to mine so this makes me happy!
Love the jacket, too, of course 😉
Nice work.

Love the dress and it reminds of the dress Taraji P. Henson wore on Live with Kelly
