3 WAYS TO WEAR A SEQUIN DRESS
Hey guys! As we enter “sparkly season”, I want to show you guys 3 ways to wear a sequin dress.
Now you all KNOW that I LOVE all things sparkly and I wear sequin all year long. Here are a few of my sequin outfits:
Some people save the sequin for the holidays. I don’t. I’m not new to this, I’m TRUE to the sparkly game lol. Today I’ll showcase the dress that I made and the shoes I wore.
There is NOTHING more glam than a sequin dress.
The shape of this dress is what I love the most. Normally when you see a sequin party dress it’s fitted. I didn’t want a fitted dress. I am still very much in love with all things asymmetrical so it was a winner. It was so fun picking out my accessories. I STILL wanted to be sparkly but not in a doing too much kinda way. Instead of wearing a necklace I opted for statement earrings and I stacked my favorite sparkly bracelets. My dainty sparkly shoes and clutch finished off the look.
The shoes I’m wearing are no longer available but here are a couple that would look great with this dress: Stuart Weitzman / Adrianna Papell.
For those of you who sew, here is a review:
Pattern Description: Tunic or dress (close-fitting through bust) has diagonal seam detail, shaped hemline, wrong side shows, very narrow hem and back zipper. Bias neck facing, and armhole facings A and B. C: Two-piece sleeves. Semi-fitted, tapered pants have back zipper.
Pattern Sizing: 6-14. I cut the 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn’t use the instructions but they are well written.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the shape of this dress.
Fabric Used: Sequin
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: A few. I made a muslin first because I wanted to check the fit. This pattern SAYS close fitting but it really wasn’t. I originally cut the 12 and it was LOOSE. I went back and cut the 10. I made a 1 inch FBA (which is something I hardly EVER have to do) and added shaping from the armyse down 3.5 inches. I shortened the dress on the shortest side 5 inches and shortened the longest side 3 inches. I LOVE the finished look of this dress.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I MAY sew it again in a more casual fabric next spring.
Conclusion: This was a GREAT dress for the look that I wanted.
That’s it for today, next post will be the second way you can wear this fabulous sequin dress.
