3 Steps | Make yourself a priority.

3 Steps | Make yourself a priority.

Hey Guys!!

The past six months or so  have been MAYHEM. I decided a couple of weeks ago that enough was enough.  Let me show you how to make yourself a priority in 3 steps.

  1. Make time for yourself. This may SEEM easy but sometimes it can be really hard.

I own one business and co-own another. There have been times when I have been consumed with work. While that is a good thing it’s also a bad thing because I wasn’t spending time with my family, I wasn’t going to church like I wanted to, I wasn’t taking time out to refresh MYSELF.  I started a new schedule this month and it has been absolutely amazing.  I’ve started making time for me. I’m very proud of myself because for a LONG time I thought that making time for myself or doing something JUST for me was selfish. It is NOT. It’s absolutely necessary.

2. Leave work at work.

This can be VERY difficult especially if you work from home like I do. I answer emails constantly. I want to always be available for my clients/customers so it was never ending. All times of day and night. If I went to sleep and heard the notification, I would wake up and answer the question or fix whatever needed to be fixed.

While they LOVE the personal attention it was affecting my health.  I had constant headaches. I wasn’t eating properly or the right things. I was up at all hours of the night. That’s not always productive.

To fix this, issue I don’t answer emails after a certain time and after 9pm my phone is on Do Not Disturb. Unless you are on my favorites list I won’t get your call/message until morning.  That has helped me so much it’s unreal.

3. Delegate.

This was the hardest thing for me because I feel like I need to do it all in order for it to be done correctly. What I’ve learned about myself is that I’m a control freak. I NEED to know what is going on at all times so I know how to handle things.

WRONG.

I’m a work in progress on this one. I have stopped trying to do it all myself. IT IS HARD. But even at this stage I already see progress.

There are things you can’t control. Period.  I should already know this but, well lol. I’m not perfect but I try to be the best me that I can be.

What are some things you do to make yourself a priority? Let me know in the comments.  Maybe something you say can help someone else 🙂

Good for you! I have recently started consistently making time for myself and my priorities and it has had a tremendous impact on the rest of my life.
