Soul Food, My Walk With God

Soul Food, My Walk With God

**I ask that you all be respectful. Please do not bash anyone in the comments that may or may not share the same views. If you would like to comment please do so, if not that's fine. This is the way that "I" feel, you may or may not agree, I just ask that you be respectful**

I mentioned starting another "series" on my blog. Well this will be it. I can't go any futher without saying a big huge thank you to two people who have helped me sooooooo much in my new journey. Lady Lee and Serenity.

These two ladies have TRULY blessed me more than I think they can ever know.

Ladylee did this four part series on purpose. If you have time and it interests you, read it. I'm even going to make it easy and link all four parts lol.

Part One

Part Two

Part Three

Part Four

I mentioned before that she was one of my new favorite bloggers. At first, it was because of her writing style. I mean sistah can WRITE!!!! Then, the more we talked…ahhhh yes. I am her MAMA! LOL

Seriously though, she has BLESSED ME. She takes time out to answer all these questions I might have and I love that.

I used to hear about Lady Lee and Serenity doing these "workbooks" so I said, next go round I would join in. Little did I know at the time that she was going to do one on her blog.

The one we are doing now is Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted

We are currently on day 5. You can click HERE to follow along.

This is really blessing me. Like really. It's making me think and I'm digging into the scriptures in a way I never have.

Tony and I have totally redicated our lives to God. All we want to do is live a life that's pleasing to Him. We have done a WHOLE lot of changing. Like 360 changes so that our life lines up with the Word.  We are not perfect, we just love God. We are members of a church that was simply LOVE. It's so wonderful to be a part of ministry where we are truly being fed. The kids love it, we love it and we are making ourselves available so that God can use us.

Speaking of, here is a picture that we took for the new members board thingy lol.

Scan0001

We are so happy about our church home. Soooooooooooo happy lol. Can't stress it enough.

I had someone tell me not long ago that my blog helped them through one of the hardest times in their life. I was floored. And humbled. All I have ever been is me.

I've always prayed and stuff…gone to church, but never really "changed" if that makes any sense.

I never really had a real relationship with God. I'm learning it's more than just going to church on Sunday. It's a daily walk.

I don't know how often I'll post in this "series" maybe when I learn something new or come across a scripture. Who knows, but when I do get ready I will lol.

Ok, I've rambled enough lol.

Toodles!

May I be the first to say…you can make your blog what your want it to be. I have always enjoyed the format off you blog, and I’m sure that I’ll enjoy the new one too. You have always been open with what you have chosen to share here. The picture you posted with tears streaming down your face touched me, and somehow it was what I was feeling at the time. In the old sense, you kept it real. In your new walk, take your time and you’ll be what He wants you to be. Be encouraged, even if you have to encourage yourself. Trena

Adrienne, my eyes are crying rivers of tears right! I am so very happy for you and your family that you have found a house of worship that fulfill your needs. Amen! You have reached out to me during the past year and it really touched my heart. Though I am 55 years of age, I am 35 years at heart and appreciate all things God has given and continues to give.
Don’t and I repeat DON’T let anyone pursuade you to turn back. I have been a Minister of Music for about 40+ years and still waiting for my true placement!

How wonderful to be in a place where you are truly getting to know God! May you always continue to seek him. I have heard such great things about the Jonah series by Priscilla Schirrer!! You are in for an adventure!

I’m SO happy for you (smile)! You said it— Religion can’t take you where a RELATIONSHIP with God can. Sadly most people don’t know that. The daily walk changes how you see everything and you begin to know just how much you’re loved by God and how much you love him. It’s amazing. I’m on the same walk with you Lady. My love grows for my “Best Friend” everyday. If you chase after him you’ll continue to discover him. He’s got some great PLANS for you (and the fam). Jer 29:11-13. Much love to ya:)

How could you not know that your blog can be helpful. There have been times when you have posted things that have seriously make me think before I open my mouth.
you have been open and honest here and it has been helpful.

  • Syl/ 12.03.2011Reply

May you continue to walk in the light.

  • toy/ 12.03.2011Reply

I think the world need more people that are open and real with what is going on. Its truly something unique to be the type of person that is willing to do that. I believe that not being transparent dosen’t make you a dishonest person, its just mean that some people are going to have to put in a little more effort if they want to know you better.Just like you can’t just read the bible to know Jesus, you have to develop a personal relationship with him, I feel like that is how you have to deal with every other relationalship, never take anything or anyone from just was you see or read.

I’m so happy for you and your family Adrienne! I too have found a church that has taken my walk with God to another level. I learn something new about God each time I walk through the door. It amazes me that having grown up in the church, there is so much I did not know or learn. I guess I learned religion and tradition, but not how to form an intimate relationship with God. It’s just a wonderful thing!
This is your blog and I personally have love each and everything you’ve done with it. As children of God, we are to draw and bring souls into the kingdom and I think your blog is a wonderful way to do that.
I am going to check out Serenity and Lady Lee!

How awesome! Nothing is more important than a walk with God and the right place (church home) to learn what it’s all about. Stay true to yourself and your family as you continue to grow in God Word! It’s great that you’ve shared this, your sharing this might lead others to seek the same for their lives, so this is great. I grew up in church all my life but have learned more in the past few years because of what I’ve learned through my church and God’s Word and getting an understanding of what it’s really all about.

This was very sweet! I use to wonder how blogs help people with their lives as well. Bc to me it’s just documenting what I’m doing. But if someone picks something up along the way, then Great!

Finding the right church is the KEY!!!

  • Kim Brown/ 14.03.2011Reply

What a blessing and what a beautiful family. I will be keeping you all in my prayers. Just know that you don’t have to change or do anything “yourself” the holy spirit will do it all for you now that you accepted Christ. I pray that you will stay firm and find the blessings in the trials that are sure to come. God Bless. XOXO. Kim

You have always shared yourself with your readers rather it be the struggles of being a wife, mother, woman, daughter, sister and friend and it has been the thing that has kept me following your life’s journey for the past 3 or 4 years now. Life and it’s occurances bring about change in our lives and as we grow we move away from somethings as we discover new ones. I applaud you yet again for making a personal family decision something note worthy for sharing with us.
May God continue to bless and keep You,Tony and the children. Know that your recent support with my family has been deeply appreciated. God always puts like minded (and spirited) folks in our lives for a reason.

  • TJ/ 15.03.2011Reply

This is great! I’m glad for y’all.

  • Lori/ 15.03.2011Reply

    Adrienne,
I’m so happy that all of you have decided to cultivate your relationship with God! You will inspire so many, but most of all your children! Thanks for sharing something so special and personal! It’s amazing because I’ve been thinking a lot, recently, that I haven’t come upon any other spiritual and inspirational blogs written by women like me or those I can look up to, so thanks for the links to the other blogs too and I’ll be picking up “Jonah”! God bless you and yours!

  • Nikki/ 16.03.2011Reply

I am SO happy & excited for you and your family!!!!!!!! Keep being you, it’s helped a lot of us readers through a lot of times in our lives. I’m speaking from personal experience of how you’ve helped me while reading your blog. Keep moving forward :).

I love this post, Adrienne! My Women’s Ministry Bible Study Group is doing this same workbook. My class meets on Sundays after church. Last Sunday was our first meeting. I’m on Day 3. Enjoying it!

SO glad to hear that you have found a church home that you love and discovered the joy of living a new life for the Lord (isn’t he just so wonderful:) I haven’t been blogging or keeping up with blogs for a long time, but so much in your blog has inspired me in the past as well.

I found your blog about a year ago when I was searching for ideas to inspire my teenager to sew. I’ve enjoyed trying out your recipes. I have prayed for you during health issues. I’m so excited about your FAITH walk! My Bible study did Jonah this fall. It was wonderful! You seem like such a wonderful young wife and mother. God bless you and welcome back to the fold.
