The Janelle Skirt from Style Sew Me
The pattern envelope is so pretty and I love the weight of the paper that it is printed on. Even though I received a hard copy I still printed the PDF to see how it would go together and there were no problems at all.
I love pencil skirts and I don’t have anything like this in my wardrobe so I was very excited to give it a try.
I know what size I wear when using Big 4 Patterns but I was unsure about this one. I really didn’t want to sew a muslin so I cut the large and just went with it. It’s easier to take away than to add to lol.
The large was way too big. I ended up taking it in significantly. I will also add that the fabric I used (stretch denim) had a good deal of stretch and I wanted it to really hug my curves, so shaving it down some was the best way for me to go.
Demin will also “grow” so I had to keep that in mind as well.
I LOVE the thigh slit. The pattern suggests stitching down 10″. That was a little TOO high for me, so I further down to about 13 inches. I think it’s absolutely perfect for me.
I used a heavy stretch denim that I have had in my stash forever. I’m glad I finally got a chance to use it.
I absolutely love this skirt and it will get so much wear out of it. It’s a great addition to any wardrobe. I can’t wait to make another version. Great job Eryn! I absolutely love this skirt.
