Blue & White Dress w/ Orange Pumps
Hey guys! Sooooooo you all know I have a “thing” for dresses. I LOVE them. They are so feminine to me. Sure you can be feminine in what ever you choose to wear BUT this is my thing. This Blue & White Dress w/ Orange Pumps is seriously my favorite. I say that every time don’t I? LOL
Let me tell you something. I LOVE this dress. How much do I love it? I have already made two more in beautiful prints and I plan on making a couple more in a solid. I LOVE this dress lol.
What do I love most about this dress? The neckline and the pockets.
Let me add a LITTLE disclaimer. I have lost weight. And when you loose weight you have to adjust your measurements. I did NOT do that when I made this dress. So if it looks a tad bit big, that’s why. I was having a lot of NSV (Non-Scale Victories) and didn’t realize exactly HOW much weight I lost until I put this dress on. YAY ME but BOOOO because I had to make some SERIOUS alterations. I’ll take pictures in it again so you can see the difference but in the two other versions that are already made I made the correct adjustments lol. I can’t WAIT to show y’all lol.
So back to this dress. YES I love it. I’ve said that and I’m sure by now you KNOW this but I just HAVE to say it again lol. I LOVE THIS DRESS.
The neckline is what initially attracted me to this dress. I thought it was just so feminine and flattering. I kept my accessories very simple. Just a single strand of pearls, pearl bracelets and sparkly stud earrings.
I didn’t want to do a “regular” shoe so I thought these orange pumps and white bag would be perfect.

For those of you who sew, here is a review:
Pattern Description: Dress has close-fitting, lined, interfaced bodice with side front and side back seams, side pockets, and back zipper. Narrow hem. A and B: Tiers. B: Self-lined sleeves. Note: Separate pattern pieces are included for cup sizes A/B, C, D.
Pattern Sizing: 6-14
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? For the most part yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn’t follow them but they are very well written.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The neckline won me over.
Fabric Used: Cotton Sateen from Fabric Mart
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made view B top and view C skirt. Instead of the gathers I added pleats.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I have made THREE of these dresses already. I’m planning three solid versions now. I LOVE this dress.
Conclusion: This is a beautiful dress and a great addition to any wardrobe.
See you guys tomorrow!

Oh my gosh is love to make this. How does one convert gathers to pleats??
admin/ 27.02.2016
Thanks so much!!! I pinned it at the side seams on my dress form and just folded the fabric into pleats until they fit the waist 🙂

Adrienne, I love that dress, so beautiful with the orange pumps, I can tell of your weight loss. I tell you that you’re not the only one going through seasons of storms, mine started last year August 2015 losing a brother, then Feb 2016 losing a sister, plus my own personal storms, but God grace is sufficient! Thank you for the encouraging words. I’m trying to withstand the storms of life without losing my mind. I know I have dropped a dress size maybe 2 to be exact. God bless you! I never felt so lonely and lost. God word keeps me sane.

I’m loving this dress. I was just about to take the dive into sewing this when I came across your website ( by the way l love what you do), can you share with me what you did to make the pleat? Thanks so much and keep up the wonderful things you do.

Thank you! I matched the skirt at the side seam and then folded it to the center front…if that makes sense lol

Your dress looks nothing like the pattern and that is a compliment. This is exactly the reason why I follow your site. Many of the patterns…i can’t picture them being pretty and then you bring them to life. That dress is fabulous!

Aww thanks so much for your kind words Alissa!

I came across your blog as a new Bernina ambassador. Great addition to the family!
I love this dress, too. Any hints on making the pleat?
Thanks
admin/ 11.05.2016
Thank you! Instead of gathering it I just brought each piece to the center front 🙂
