2nd Annual Prom Dress Giveaway

Hey guys! It’s FINALLY time! Our 2nd Annual Prom Dress Giveaway was a HUGE success. This year there was more exposure mainly due to the interview on ABC 33/40 Talk of Alabama.

There was NO way I could have done this alone. Last year I literally did everything myself. It was my first time doing it and to be perfectly honest I knew what I wanted to do but wasn’t sure how to execute everything.  This year there were so many people that reached out I HAVE to say thanks before I start adding pictures.

Everyone was SO amazing to work with. We all communicated well and played phone /email tag until everything was taken care of lol. You all were AMAZING and I truly thank you for being part of something that is so special not only to me but to our recipient and her family. Thank you, thank you THANK YOU. I can’t wait until next year!

Let’s get into the pictures.

Richelle is our 2nd Annual Prom Dress Giveaway Recipient. She is a senior at Woodlawn High school. She is an AMAZING young lady and student. She will be attending Alabama A&M University in the Fall.

There is so much preparation that goes into getting ready for this ONE day. The ONLY thing I like for our recipient to do  is literally hair / makeup the day of prom. Christina did an amazing job keeping Richelle looking her age. She is a senior but she’s petite and we didn’t want to overpower her face or frame. We kept that in mind during the entire process.

The beauty of custom is that if you can imagine it, you can pretty much have it. Michelle had an specific type of dress that she wanted from the very beginning and I’m SO glad she wanted sparkly. She’s a young lady after my own heart. The bodice on this dress was SO fun to make but it did take about 20 hours total to complete. I got some GOOD Netflix time in while working on this.

Each one of those stones was applied by hand. MY HANDS lol.

This is THE PERFECT DRESS TO TWIRL IN. As I mentioned before Richelle is very petite. She wanted a short dress and even though we could have designed a long one that would not have overpowered her frame a short dress was perfect for her.

Let me pause here and talk about her shoes. Richelle did NOT want to wear heels lol. We couldn’t find any that would compliment her dress AND that were comfortable for her to walk in. Her chucks were PERFECT!

Y’all know I LOVE sparkly so this was fun for me. This was also my first time adding sparkly to chucks. Not only did she have chucks to wear to the prom, she can also wear these multiple times after prom. Win win situation! These took forever but again it was super fun to do.

Once we got Richelle all dressed we went out and had our photo shoot. Isn’t she just STUNNING!?

We literally beat the rain by about 5 minutes. Richelle was an absolute joy to work with. Thank you again to everyone who helped make this day special for Richelle. I have to also thank her lovely mother for trusting me with her. That’s not something that I take lightly.
